Our 2025 Roadmap

First and foremost, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined Scriptor in 2024. It has been an incredible year of growth for us. Seeing so many writers embrace Scriptor has been inspiring, and we’re more motivated than ever to improve the application and make it the ultimate tool for screenwriting—and soon, playwriting.

As we look to 2025, our roadmap is packed with exciting developments. While we’ll continue delivering smaller updates weekly, here are the main features we’re focusing on:

1. Stage Play Editor

We’re working on a complete stage play editor with industry-standard formatting. Here’s what you can expect:

• StoryMap: A new way to visualise your stage play’s structure.
• Version Control: Keep track of every iteration of your work.
• PDF Export: Seamlessly export your plays for sharing and printing.
• Scene/Act Navigator: Effortlessly move through your script.

Best of all, the stage play editor will be free for all users.

2. Performance Improvements

Nobody likes waiting. In 2025, we’re prioritising performance to ensure Scriptor is as fast as possible. This includes eliminating loading spinners, reducing loading times between file switching, moving between projects, and more.

3. Collaboration Features

We know collaboration is key for many writers. That’s why we’re introducing the ability to share any file you’re working on within Scriptor.

4. Screenplay Editor Improvements

We’re refining the screenplay editor with the following enhancements:

• Watermarks: Protect your work with customisable watermarks.
• Revision Colours: Easily track changes with colour-coded revisions.
• Find and Replace: A robust search tool to streamline your edits.
• Expanded PDF Export Options: More flexibility for sharing.

5. Text Editor Improvements

The text editor is getting some upgrades too:

• More Templates & Blocks: Greater flexibility for structuring your documents.
• Version Control: Keep track of edits and easily revert changes.
• PDF Export: PDF export for your text-based files.

6. Archive

Say goodbye to the fear of accidental deletions. The new archive feature will allow you to recover deleted files:

• Free Users: Restore files up to 7 days after deletion.
• Subscribers: Restore files up to 30 days after deletion.
